how does GBL measure the success of its interventions?

A successful research study is one that produces an actionable insight – positive or negative. A successful social intervention is one that demonstrates a meaningful positive impact on both workers and firms. We measure success using a causal methodologies to study the impact of an intervention on multiple aspects of worker wellbeing and productivity, retention, and absenteeism, among other business metrics.

how many workers has GBL reached till date through its programs?

GBL has impacted the lives of 2 million workers and counting since 2017 through its research, scale up, and insight dissemination work.

how is GBL funded?

We were incubated within Shahi Exports in the early days, and have now spun off as an independent organization as the team has grown and our funding sources have diversified. Today, we receive funds from CSR, private foundations, philanthropic and international organizations.

what problem areas does GBL focus on?

While we’re open to tackle nearly any high-impact opportunities to improve wellbeing, our portfolio has primarily focused on Climate, Livelihoods, Health, Gender and Workplace. Within that we focus on the following in great detail: women’s economic empowerment, recruitment and engagement, skilling and training, worker voice and agency, workplace advancement, holistic health, financial inclusion, living and work conditions, and climate adaptation.
